Of
the many characteristics used to describe an entrepreneur the
one SCORE counselors regard most highly is having the wisdom
and courage to seek help from others. Being able to provide that
help is the SCORE counselor’s reward. But we have a concern...are
we doing all we can to service the small business community?
We help clients wishing to start a business. This can take some
interesting turns as the strengths and weaknesses of the business
idea are explored. In some cases the conclusion is—don’t start!
If you think about it, that can be pretty valuable advice.
We help clients already in business with a variety of problems
from pricing to inventory control to marketing to personnel.
Less known is that you do not have to have a problem to benefit
from talking to SCORE. Entrepreneuring can be a lonesome occupation.
SCORE’s secret weapon is that we have been there and recognize
the value of just having someone to talk to, to bounce ideas
off of. We fill that role...use us!
We are dedicated to the small business entrepreneur. You have
our respect and support. Let us help you succeed.
Bill Shuman, SCORE, Augusta

“Life
works in ways that are priceless, in ways that cannot be measured.
Meaning and fulfillment stem from “inside out” discovery within
the creative human spirit where the widest and highest possibilities
can be found naturally within everyone. The key is to identify
the beliefs in limitation and self-transformation occurs effortlessly.
This is what inspires the coaching and consulting of LifeWORKS© available
to entrepreneurs, professionals, thought leaders and policymakers
in all fields. Life is goooood as we learn how life works naturally
within ourselves and throughout nature.”
Skye Hirst, Ph.D.,
Coach and Consultant,, LifeWORKS©, Camden

“How
we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives” –
Annie Dillard
Our business is our passion! We witness the power of personal
transformation as clients discover and achieve the things that
make life meaningful for them. In the process of marketing our
services, we are enriched by connecting with the larger midcoast
business community and meeting lots of interesting people.
We’d encourage entrepreneurs to seek a business coach with a
strong marketing background—ours comes from the Women’s Small
Business Development Center. She saves us time and money, continues
to be a major support and showed us the ropes early on.
Jessica Tracy, M.Ed., Valerie Heath, LCSW, FuturePerfect™, Brunswick

Fortunately,
Maine offers many resources for aspiring entrepreneurs. But
for people with no previous business experience, SCORE is a
good place to start. SCORE counselors each have many years
of practical experience which they use to set newcomers to
the world of business on the right path.
Alvin DaCosta, SCORE Counselor, Augusta and Camden
