Entrepreneur Quotes from June 2003 issue

When I walk into your home, I see a blank canvas.

I am an artist— creativity is part of my everyday world. I also enjoy seeing the satisfaction on my clients’ faces when I finish decorating their homes and they express their appreciation. My life’s work is the fulfillment of a dream—to enrich the world in which I live by creating beautiful spaces. I am a decorator.

Bob GrantI established Office Partner to provide small businesses with intermittent computer and business management support when hiring full time or even part time help was not a practical solution. I do not consider myself a consultant who only offers advice. Rather, I want to be relied upon to not only bring new ideas to the table, but to bring those ideas to fruition.

Why is the question I get all the time:
• Why be self-employed?
• Why take the risk?
• Why subject yourself to all of it?
And the latest one
• Why move to Maine?
The only answer is:
Because I can.

I do what I do for a simple reason: I want to practice my art as a full time pursuit. The only way to do that is to make a business of it. With this venture I have been able to perfect my craftsmanship, gain insight into my own abilities and limitations, and create new opportunities for personal growth. There are trade-offs with any choice. If it is truly fulfilling, one will make certain sacrifices without question. It is often very stressful, sometimes frightening, but always rewarding.
